This Week's Disaster!

So last night when I turned on my computer it started popping up yellow boxes all over the screen. It was sending spam and the Symantec was kicking it back with error messages all over the place. The computer was 5 years old but the shame of it all is that I said last week I should replace it before it crashed because I could feel it coming. I would have been able to take my time, find what I liked, transfer all my files... but no... didn't do that. So today I went to Best Buy and bought a new computer. I didn't even shop around. I bought the one the guy said was a good deal. I also got an external hard drive so that I can try and retrieve some of my photos and music. This is the nightmare of anyone who is self-employed. It feels like my whole business just exploded all over my office. So I am slowly picking up the pieces and needed a moment to vent...

I WON!! I WON!!

So the girls and I headed out last night for a fun night of BINGO. We have been going about once a month for something new and different to do. It is really a lot of fun and we get sucked into staying until they kick us out after the last session. Well the other few times I have gone I have won a dollar or two on pull-tabs but last night I played a game that is a horse race. You buy a ticket and open it and if you are lucky it has a horse or a jockey number inside (although we have bought many that had nothing!) I got 4 horses and one jockey out of the 10 cards I bought. They started the race and it runs just like a bingo game. On the big bingo board, the first vertical line to fill up is the winner making the winning jockey 1-15 and the winning horse is the last number to be called to fill up the line! And I WON!! Amy and Faith had gone to the bathroom so they missed my unsure raising of my hand hoping I had seen my card correctly and actually understood the way the game works. Carol looked at my card and confirmed that I had in fact won and we were giddy as little school girls. I won $100. It was so much fun and I see how people easily get hooked into spending their entire paychecks there as it is quite addictive.

Nonetheless, anyone that knows me knows I have only ever been lucky in love (awwww!) so I feel the tide turning. There are many things that I can give credit to so we'll just say that I had my very best friends with me and that is all it took. Still giddy...

TGIF!

Today feels just about as crazy as the rest of the week has been! We had a game last night and won 5-4. We only had bare bones for our team but the kids that were there really stepped it up. I taped Hunter in goal but have to figure out how to get it onto the computer now. We are planning on going swimming at the gym tonight. I have Amy's kids while she is at work for C3 so they should be nice and worn out afterwards. Since we played the game last night we only have one game tomorrow. It will be Hunter's first game with his new rec team, the Gators. I am excited for him to just be able to get out there and show off a little bit and have fun!

Tonight Brian is going out with his friends from when he used to work and is looking forward to catching up. Then tomorrow night the girls and I are gonna try our luck at Bingo again. Hoping to win some money!!

A Crazy Day!

Today seems like we are trying to cram a lot of stuff into very little time (which is not unusual around here!) We would like to get to the gym once the kids are finished with school. Also, we have a game tonight which we were supposed to play on Saturday but the other team has a conflict so they moved it to today. I have to get numbers onto the jerseys before the game so that all the kids have their shirts for the game. Amy has to work tonight for C3 at the church so she is bringing her kids by since Daniell is out of town. Somewhere in there we will have to feed all the kids and get them ready to go to the game.

Should be one of those days that we will fall into bed tonight. The nice thing is it opens up some time on Saturday to play!!

Weekend Recap

So this feels like it is becoming the soccer blog but that seems to be consuming our lives right now! Brandon had a game on Saturday and we played a Div 1 U10 team (remember we are only U8). We were winning the entire game until the 4th qtr. At the end of the the 3rd it was 2-0 and Hunter was unbelievable in goal. In the 4th our defense gave up a goal by watching it roll in and screening Hunter so he couldn't see it coming... 2-1. With just a few minutes left in the game they took an incredible shot bringing the score to 2-2. That was the final score but the game felt like we should have gotten the win. It was a great game though against a good team that is 2 yrs older than us. Throughout this season as Hunter has played in goal he has made some UNBELIEVABLE saves and has really been an asset to the team. I am hoping to be able to catch some saves in the last few games and post them here so you can see his "cat-like reflexes". He has started talking about hockey again and it may be something we explore next season.

Hunter's indoor soccer game was Sunday and he did great. He had two assists and played a really good game. We won 9-1. I took Madyson with me to the game so I credit her with the win as our "good luck charm". I told her she could go with me until they lose. She is so cute because she sits with me on the front row and really gets into the game. She knows a few other boys on the team from school and finds herself cheering for them as she gets caught up in it all... She is a blast to go with!!

So here's the breakdown of the weekend...

Ok... so it was a crazy weekend!! Lots of soccer and not much sleep... Here's how it played out.

Fri Night 8:45- Hunter's team lost 0-5
Sat 8:30 AM - Brandon's team - other team forfeited which gives us a win of 3-0. (Would have rather slept in!!)
Sat 11:30 AM - Brandon's team won 13-5
Sat 1:30 PM - Brandon's team won 7-0

This gave us 1st place!! They got nice medals and did a fantastic job. The kids respond so well to Brian's coaching and it is really nice to see a team with the chemistry that they have.

Sat 3:15 PM - Hunter's team lost 0-4
Sat 7:15 PM - Hunter's team won 3-1

This gave Hunter's team 3rd place in the division but did not qualify us for a Wild Card spot in the playoffs. He was disappointed but was approached by a few of the opposing coaches which was flattering.

They were lazy most of the day yesterday and then played with Addyson last night and this morning. It was a great weekend but being that busy made if FLY by!!

Busy Weekend!!

The boys are both in a tournament this weekend so we are going to be coming and going like crazy. Hunter has a game tonight at 8:45 and then Brandon's games are tomorrow morning at 8:30, 11:30 and 1:30. Hunter's games are tomorrow at 2:00 and 4:30 and then they will have a playoff if they do well tomorrow night. Then on Sunday Hunter has an indoor game. I am not sure that leaves much time to breathe in there!! They are very excited though so it should be fun. Gonna try and remember my camera.

A Recommendation

Last night Brian and I watched the movie "Fireproof". The acting leaves something to be desired but the message was inspiring. The other day we had a conversation about why marriage was easy for some and so difficult for others. Our conclusion was it was a mixture of personalities, commitment to making it work and a solid foundation. Admittedly we have had ups and downs but it feels like we are past most of that now and it only adds to the foundation we have built together. We often say that the stuff we have been through has only made us stronger.

The movie put a nice spin on how your actions and words can play a big part in how the other person feels and reacts. It was a good reminder to never stop putting in the work and to always remind yourself and your spouse about the commitment you made to each other.

It was a movie meant to watch with your spouse and we both walked away from it with an appreciation for the other and for the journey we continue to take together. I wouldn't want to be taking it with anyone else...

Great Soccer Weekend!!

On Saturday Brandon had two indoor games! We told him he could play as long as he was careful and didn't do any headers. He had great games and we won the first 6-5 to against the team we have tied twice already this season. It was really exciting. The second game we won 7-2. Hunter had a game on Sunday and won 12-1 and scored a goal and had an assist. It was an exciting game too and the team is really starting to gel. It was the best game he has had in awhile. I thought our luck would carry over to the SuperBowl but ... no. We were all cheering for Arizona except Brandon. He had bet Brian $10 that the Steelers would win... He never lost faith and even at the end with only a few minutes left and the Cardinals took the lead he still was saying the Steelers were going to win. He was so excited to beat his dad in a bet and is still bragging today that he won the $10 bet... Not a great lesson in gambling, huh?
