It's Monday!!

So we are back to schoolwork and work and hitting the gym. Getting out of our routine feels like it took us another two weeks to get back into it. I am splint free and my finger seems to be starting to work again. It is surprisingly still painful after all this time. We lost both games this weekend which was disappointing and on top of that we had to sit outside in the 30 degree weather to watch the teams lose. That sucks!

This week we have games on Thursday night and Saturday. I am hoping for some SPRING weather!! Brian's dad and gramma are coming at the end of April so we have a wish list of things to do before they get here. Hopefully I can get started on that this week and get a head start so I am not trying to do it all the week before they come.

I'm off to get some work done...

Gonna Get Stuff Done!!

It seems like this week I have carried the same tasks through my planner from day to day. I made some progress last night once I got home from the bookstore. It seemed like the small feat of getting one thing done led me to complete several. I'm hoping the same will be true of today. The weather is gloomy and cold which makes me want to go back to bed. I still have not gotten used to daylight savings time and find myself wide awake at 4:00 AM.

Today I am committed to getting things done... we'll see how it goes...

Spring Cleaning for Spring Break!

Brian was nice enough to let the kids have the week off for Spring Break. We have had sleepovers and played outside with friends and they got the new Resident Evil 5 game to play. It has been fun. Yesterday I made real progress with spring cleaning with a little help from my friends. I worked on the closet under the stairs and got some shelving in there to organize it. Moved the old fridge to the garage (after making some room) and took the other old fridge to a friend's garage. Cleaned, rearranged and reorganized the gameroom. Worked in the back yard and patio and made a soccer goal for the kids so they would stop kicking the ball in the house. And did a few other cleaning projects and loose ends... It was so nice to lay down at the end of the day and feel like I had accomplished so much. I do feel that today is falling very short comparatively.

I am trying to prioritize the rest of the week to continue to get big things done especially with the kids outside so much. I desperately need to organize the huge bag of photos I have from the last 10 years and want to get my dumpster dive table redone. It is great to have the breeze blowing through the house and a nice laid-back week to dream big...

Spring was here briefly...

So the cat seemed to enjoy a glimpse of spring. She brought us two baby bunnies. One we found on the back porch with no head. The next day she brought the bunny into the house and then killed it in the dining room. It is nice that she can open the back door to get in and out when she needs to go to the bathroom but this was definitely a downfall...

We also killed our first snake the other day. The weather was so beautiful I decided to clean up the back yard a little. I went to move the kids bike ramps and underneath was a snake. I wasn't expecting it and it totally caught me by surprise so I called for Hunter to come out with his hockey stick. He did but wouldn't kill it for me. Brian came to my rescue and beat it to death. Usually I can handle the killing part but it was so unexpected I was frazzled. We found another dead snake that the cat must have gotten so I made a little snake sacrifice pile to try and discourage the others from showing their slithering selves.

Now it is freezing cold and rainy... I miss having the windows open and feeling the breeze!

Could this week end already??

So, it has been one of those weeks and I am glad it is coming to an end. I was sick Monday and Tuesday with migraines. It wasn't until Tuesday night that I started to feel better and within minutes felt much worse. As I was cutting bread I attempted to cut my finger off. Ok, not really, but the knife slipped and cut into my bone. Did I say I have been going to the gym every day and I guess I didn't recognize my own strength... Anyway, I have a nice gash and could see down to the bone which the knife got stuck in. The kids were impressed I didn't cry though... I think they call it "SHOCK"!

I butterflied it together, used Neosporin (the miracle cure for anything as Brian says) and splinted it. My friend who is a dr says it should be fine as long as I don't run a fever which would indicate an infection in the joint. It hurts like crazy and is right across my knuckle so will take a good long time to heal. It is still black and blue and nice shades of green now but the worst that could happen is I'll lose my finger... Brian says it is good it was my pointer and not my middle finger since it sticks up all the time...

Then today we lost both games. Brian's team did not look even a little as good as they are. It was an off day but he was disappointed since it has been a long time since we lost... and a long time since his players have had to see him as "Angry Coach"! A bump in the road... More soccer to come tomorrow...

The Results...

So of course, I have to post the soccer update for the weekend. On Saturday morning at 8:00 Brandon's team, the Warriors, played their first game of the outdoor season. They won 8-3. They looked impressive and Brandon had a great game. Even the other team's coach was ranting and raving about him. He was a superstar out there and this season we are playing kids who are a year older to give the team a little more competition. It was fun to watch... from the car since there was a 20 degree wind chill. It was sooooo cold! Hunter played at 1:00 Sat afternoon and it was warmer and they won 4-1. Also a good game.

The boys had a sleepover last night and Addy stayed with us too. Today Hunter had an outdoor game at 2:30 with the Liverpool team and they lost 6-2. It was a rough game and we looked bad. Hunter did ok and Kirk and Michele came to watch the game. Then right after we drove to his indoor game at 4:45. We won that game 5-3. He had some sweet moves along the boards and you can really tell when he is playing indoor it is his passion. I think we have all agreed that this will be his last season of outdoor. He is a very hockey-like soccer player so his style is more suited to indoor. Also, he has worked with Brian quite a bit and understands the physics behind the boards. He looked great out there!

All in all, a good weekend but with 4 games it seems to fly by... I feel like I could sleep all day tomorrow. Got all my work done tonight so maybe at best I can sleep in...
